1. Get Packing Supplies

Packing can be quite the strenuous processes!
We recommend getting all of the moving supplies at least 3 weeks in advance!
Be sure to get high quality packing materials so that your belongings are safe during the move.

This is a preliminary list of the packing supplies you will need for your move. Adjust the quantity based on the size of your home.

Book Boxes
Wardrobe Boxes
Dish Boxes
Mirror/Art Cartons
Mattress Cartons
Dollies and moving blankets
Markers for labeling boxes
Clear storage containers

Corrugated Carton (for kitchen items)
Bubble wrap/packing peanuts
Packing Paper
Assortment of S,M,L + XL boxes for miscellaneous items
Reusable moving crates (if you are using any)
Camera (to photograph contents of boxes)

2.Get Organized

After you’ve compiled all of your necessary packing materials, it’s time to get organized!
Organization is key to a successful move! Before you start putting things away in boxes, you may need to declutter and categorize your belongings.

Make sure you have high quality markers on hand to make visible labels of all your boxes.

Moving, Packing & Organization Tips:

Declutter your house (get rid of unwanted clothing, old toiletries, expired pantry items and so on).
After you’ve purged your house, make an itemized inventory of your belongings
Start by packing away items that you don’t use frequently (for example, winter clothes in the attic if its summer)
Pack your house by room (Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen)
Use a felt tip permanent marker to label all boxes. Label according to designated room (this will majorly help the movers put your furniture in the right place). Label boxes with delicate items ‘FRAGILE’ in visible places
If you have bulky items of furniture it may be useful to disassemble big items of furniture
Create a labeling system to help you unpack when you get to your new home (for example, label boxes that you will need urgently in red marker)
Take pictures of all of the contents of the boxes and label them on your phone.

Essential Packing Tip: Pack heavier items at the bottom of the box.

Avoid overstuffing boxes (they can break during the move)
If the box is caving in, it’s too full!

Don’t pack away items that you need everyday
(toiletries, underwear, medicine, contact lenses)
Get a suitcase and put essential items aside.

Remember to set aside important documents so that you don’t lose them during the move (prescriptions, jewelry, birth certificates, passports)!

You don’t need to empty your dressers! Keep all clothing inside and have the movers secure and transport the unit!
